Throughout the project, students will conduct their own oral history interview, making personal connections with members of their community or family and diving deeper into relevant themes and topics. Students will then create a podcast that features learnings from their interview using audio editing software.

Grades: Middle school, high school, English learners

Time Needed: Flexible. Can be condensed into a few weeks or spread out over the course of an entire quarter/semester. Included in this packet is a sample timeline for a 6-week unit.

  • Students can reflect on the oral history experience
  • Students can present their interviews in a podcast format
