In these lessons, VOW’s artifact interview assignment is modified for students in elementary grades. Students will explore the meaning of personal ‘artifacts,’ then will practice oral history interviewing skills by conducting an artifact interview with one of their peers. Students will recall key details from their artifact interviews in a storytelling activity. Students will explore the following questions:
- What is an artifact?
- How do artifacts tell stories?
