Project Description

UNDERGROUND AMERICA

The immigrant experience in the United States reflects a complex set of ideas that lend themselves to critical thinking and nuanced analysis.

Using the oral history narratives from Underground America as a foundation, students and teachers can explore aspects of the “American Dream” myths and facts about immigration, learn how to write a position paper, and more.

Ultimately, these lesson plans can help students develop and articulate their own responses and insights into this challenging issue.
