In this lesson, students will practice having relationship-building conversations, an essential building block for successful oral history interviews. Students will identify and reflect on the emotions that arise when talking to someone new. They then will generate getting to know you questions and participate in a peer interview. Students will explore the following questions:
- How do I feel when meeting new people?
- What questions do I ask to get to know someone new?
Grades: Flexible and adaptable for elementary school, middle school, and English learners.
Time Needed: One class session.
