Mark your calendars! The next book in the Voice of Witness series, Mi María: Surviving the Storm, is officially launching on September 14, 2021.
Mi María shares 17 first-person stories of surviving Hurricane María and its long aftermath in Puerto Rico as government relief and aid rarely arrived and communities collectively organized to support one another in recovery.
This oral history collection brings together narratives of perseverance and community that ask what it means to be a US citizen in a colonial context, how people come together in the wake of disaster, and how precarity is exacerbated for those on the frontlines of the climate crisis.
