Join us for a Chicago to Port-au-Prince conversation centered on the new book Lavil: Life, Love, and Death in Port-au-Prince from Verso Press / Voice of Witness.
Evan Lyon (practicing physician, health activist and writer based in Chicago) and Laura Lampton Scott (writer, editor, and teacher based in Portland, OR) will be joined by Audrey Petty (author of High Rise Stories: Voices from Chicago Public Housing) to discuss the stories of urban narrators in Haiti and in Chicago.
Opinions, conceptions, and misconceptions surrounding Haiti are common, but Haitians are rarely given the opportunity to speak for themselves. Come share some of their stories.
