There are more than 800,000 farmworkers in California—one third of the nation’s agricultural workforce. And although they feed the country, their voices are rarely heard. Chasing the Harvest: Migrant Workers in California Agriculture is an oral history collection of California farmworkers who share their stories of bravery, solidarity, and creativity while making a life in California’s fields.
Come celebrate the publication of Chasing the Harvest with several of the farmworkers whose stories are featured in the book, including legendary United Farm Worker (UFW) activist Rosario Pelayo. The book’s editor, Gabriel Thompson, will also be present.
The event will take place at the home of Gretchen Laue and Mario Bustamante, both former UFW activists whose ranch once served as a sprawling Bracero camp. Refreshments will be served!
