Through an ongoing partnership with the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), Voice of Witness has been supporting teacher-librarians and classroom teachers at middle and high schools across the city.
As a response to school closures due to COVID-19, VOW is working with teacher-librarians to collect oral history interviews with students and their families and learn more about their lives during shelter-in-place. Through this project, SFUSD students are empowered to share their perspectives on the impact of quarantine.
BAYCAT, a local organization that promotes storytelling and equity through media education programs, also partnered on the project and compiled students’ oral history interviews into a powerful video. The video highlights the uncertainties, fears, and resilience of students in San Francisco during the pandemic.
Stay tuned for more student voices through this ongoing project!
