Apply now for the new program to support your students in telling their stories through photography and personal narrative.

The 100cameras x Voice of Witness program collaboration is designed to work partnership with local schools, community centers, children’s homes, or enrichment programs to equip students with the tools they need to tell their stories while also empowering them to create change in their communities.

Program grantee will receive the tools, curriculum, and support needed to teach kids to process and tell their stories through photography and personal narrative in a way that impacts how they view themselves and their roles in their community. The program includes weekly classes and activities led by our staff that will guide participants through the process of telling and documenting their past, present, and future.

The course will culminate in the creation of a book that features student photography and student-created oral history narratives. Each student participant will be given a free copy and all proceeds from the sale of the book will be given to the participating partner organization.

This program can serve up to 100 student participants through a remote learning platform. All student equipment and education provided through the partnership.

Due to Covid-19 health guidelines, this program will be delivered remotely via virtual learning methods.

Course Outline:

Through interactive lectures, camera and photo activities, group discussions, writing and editing activities, and participant-led narrative interviews, this program utilizes the key benchmarks of visual and oral storytelling to teach youth how to process and tell their own stories in a way that impacts how they view themselves and their roles in their community.

There are eight classes and each session is approximately 2 hours long. We can be flexible with the partner organization to customize the curriculum to best compliment infrastructure and programming.
